40th Barton & District AC Cross Country Open

Baysgarth Park, Barton on Humber

The 40th annual, Barton & District Cross Country open meeting, was staged in the towns Baysgarth Park, on Sunday 19th of January. It is always a popular event, with the athletes, and there was a healthy turnout, of competitors, from all of the clubs, on both sides of the river.  A total of Twenty seven Kingston athletes, made the short journey, across the Humber Bridge, to compete at the event.

Performance details, of all the Kingston athletes are as follows.

Under 11 Girls

Tilly Shaw Hall, was the sole Kingston representative, in the under 11 girls race, which was contested, by a field of 37 runners. She covered the course, in a time of 10:19 sec, taking a good 10th place finish.

Under 13 Girls

Lydia Greenwood, was the only Kingston athlete, in the under 13 girls race, which carried a field of 20 contestants. She was the winner of the race, running the course, in a time of 12:33 sec.

Under 13 Boys

There were two Kingston representatives, in the under 13 boys race. Noah Sibary, took 2nd place in the race, running the course, in a time of 11:29 sec. Tom Beetham, took 3rd place behind his Kingston colleague, covering the course, in a time of, 11:41 sec.

Under 15 Girls

Seven Kingston girls, were in action in the under 15 girls race. Georgina North was the race winner, running the course, in a time of 17:50 sec, with Jess Waugh, taking 3rd place, running a time of 18:37 sec, Aimee Campbell, took 4th place, with her run of 18:46 sec, 6th place went to Anya Beetham, who covered the course, in a time of 19:26 sec, Amy Rothery came home in 12th place, with her run of 22:03 sec, 14th place went to, Hannah Callaghan, who made her competitive debut in this race, covering the course, in a time of 33.03 sec.

Georgina North, Jess Waugh and Aimee Campbell, also took the under 15 girls team award.

Under 15 Boy’s

Louis Coulman, made his cross country debut, at this event, where he took a 9th place finish, running a time of 20.36 sec.

Under 17 Women

Ella Shaw Hall, was the Kingston representative, in the under 17 women’s race, where she took a 3rd place finish, with her run of 28:36 sec.

Under 17 Men

Harry Hudson, was the winner of the under 17 men’s race, covering the course, in a time of 21:11 sec, and his training partner Tom Smales, took a 3rd place finish, running the course in a time of 21.44 sec.

Under 20 Women

Cara Portz, made her club debut, in the under 20 women’s race, where she took a 3rd place finish, covering the course, in a time of 35:28 sec.

Under 20 Men

Henry Anderson, backed up his silver medal, at the recent County championships, with a 2nd place finish, in the under 20 men’s race, running a time of 42:51 sec.

Senior Women

Eight Kingston athletes, were among the 134 runners, who ran in the senior women’s race. Jess Cappleman, was the first of them home, running a time of 26:32 sec, to collect the silver medal, Nic Johnson, was the next Kingston athlete to finish, taking 56th place, running a time of 35:35 sec, Cheryl Sayer, took 90th place, with her run of 39:23 sec, and hot on her heels was Claire Smith, in 91st place, running the same time of 39:23 sec. Vanessa Snelgrove was the next Kingston athlete, taking 105th with her run of 41:46 sec, Joan Osborne, took 122nd, running a time of 44:24 sec, in 123rd was Mandy Beven, in a time of 44:41 sec, with Helen Pickering 124th, running a time of 44:43 sec.

Senior Men

Two Kingston athletes, were in action in the senior men’s race. Gregan Clarkson, took a 7th place finish, running a time of 39:50 sec, whilst Paul Osborne’s run of 45:17 sec, saw him take 33rd place, in a field of 118 runners.
